FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Where in Ontario do you deliver to?
How often do you deliver?
For your convenience, we deliver on multiple pre-scheduled delivery days each week. When placing your order, you will be given the option to select a delivery window that works for you.
Do I need to be present at the time of delivery?
Due to the perishable nature of our products, it is required that you are available to receive the order in person. Our online ordering system will give you the option to select a delivery window that works for your schedule.
How do you keep meat fresh in transit? Is it kept frozen?
The majority of our steaks are shipped fresh and cut-to-order, as you’d expect from a top-quality butcher. Select specialty products are frozen to lock in quality and ensure the exceptional taste reaches your doorstep intact.
To maintain our high standards of quality throughout the delivery process, we use a temperature-controlled van.
Are your delivery time estimates accurate?
To the best of our ability. At checkout, you will be given the option to select from one of the available delivery windows. We can provide an estimated arrival window that factors in other stops and expected traffic on our route.
I am looking for a cut that isn't listed on the website. Can you help?
Do you provide wholesale orders for restaurants and special events?e?
Why do you source your beef from Alberta?
We want to give our customers access to the best meats possible. With excellent feeding programs and consistent marbling standards, Alberta’s cattle industry is widely considered the premier source of Canadian beef. Our poultry and pork products are sourced from farms here in Ontario.
How long are your steaks aged for?
The aging process differs based on the specific cut of beef. In general, steaks are aged between 30 and 90 days. You can learn more about our premium, grain-finished beef products here.
Does aging impact a steak's grade?
While aging beef can certainly impact (and improve) taste and tenderness, it does not have any impact on the grade, as cattle are graded at the time of slaughter.
Is Certified Angus equal to Canadian Prime?
Not necessarily, but it can be. The CAB program has strict breed-specific requirements for marbling, muscling, and maturity that typically exceed the threshold for an AAA grade. In some cases, CAB qualifies as Canada Prime.
What does marbling refer to?
One of the key factors when grading beef, marbling refers to the small streaks of fat within the muscle. Marbling improves flavour, juiciness, and tenderness when the meat is cooked, and is more pronounced in higher-grade beef.
When will I know the accurate cost of my order?
The products listed on our website are mostly priced per pound. Because our meat is cut fresh, we process the initial order based on estimated weight. We will update the price based on the exact product weights within 24-48 hours when picking and packing your order for delivery.
Why is your chicken air-chilled?
Air-chilling chicken preserves the bird’s natural taste and colour without any additional (and unnecessary) water retention.
What is grain-finished beef?
Grain-finished beef refers to cattle that have been fed a grain diet in the final months to boost the intramuscular fat content, improve marbling, and create a better-quality steak.
